Introduction

The term form factor in computers describes the size, configuration, or physical arrangement of a computer hardware object. The term is commonly used to describe the size and the arrangement of a computer case or chassis or its internal components such as a daughterboard. In short, the design structure, look and feel of a hardware device.

SIMM

Single In-line Memory Module (SIMM) is a small circuit board with integrated circuit chips used to hold RAM (Random Access Memory). SIMMS clip into the memory expansion socket s on the motherboard.

SIMMs offer two main advantages, minimal consumption of board surface and ease of installation. A vertically mounted SIMM requires very less space when compared to a horizontally mounted DRAM. On a SIMM, the metal leads on either side of the board are electrically tied together.
