If the keyboard produces odd characters on the display, check your Windows keyboard settings and language settings in Device Manager. Device Manager is located under the System icon under Control Panel. If the keyboard settings are incorrect then change it to the correct settings. Also, be sure that you have the correct language setting specified in the Keyboard Properties dialog box.
Keyboard Hardware Checks
Incase you suspect a keyboard hardware problem then isolate the keyboard as the definite source of the problem by checking with a known good keyboard.
