If other floppies work fine then it is most likely that you may have a bad floppy diskette.

  1. Incorrect settings in CMOS.

Check if the floppy drive is properly setup in CMOS. Incase the setup is not proper, you may come across read / write errors or the floppy may not work at all. These days, almost all computers are setup as a 3.5, 1.44MB floppy drive.

  2. Conflict with other hardware.

Incase you have recently installed any new hardware such as a tape drive or any other backup medium, disconnect that new hardware temporarily to make sure that the floppy drive is not causing the problem.
