If the processor has a problem, it may be related to the Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS). For example, if you notice that the time is not changing constantly or is incorrect all the time, then the CMOS battery is running low on charge and needs to be replaced. However, other problems usually show themselves during the Power On Self Test (POST) that occurs during boot time.
The descriptive messages inform you of what type of problem is discovered and you can act accordingly. If the computer displays an error code related to processor then before replacing the processor you should see if the chip has become slightly loose in the socket.
The most common problems in a processor are overheating and mis-configuration. There could be other problems related to failure of CPU but their occurrence is very rare.
