CMOS/BIOS Settings (Cont...)

Beep codes can vary from vendor to vendor. Most vendors use simple codes while Phoenix uses complex beep codes.

Usually the most common problem one comes across with the BIOS is when the Complementary Metallic-Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) battery runs low on charge. Normally a message is displayed at boot time that states "CMOS battery low." If this is the case, you need to replace the battery and reconfigure the BIOS.

Some of the most common Beep error codes from American Megatrends (AMI) are as follows:

1 Short beep: Indicates System RAM refresh failure

2 Short beep: Memory parity error

3 Short beep: Base 64-kbytes memory failure
