If the Windows plug and play function is working properly, you should be able to remove the driver from the computer. After removing this you must reboot the computer first. On rebooting the computer allow the operating system to detect the sound card and install the necessary device drivers.

Check for the Multimedia icon in Control Panel. Also, check Device Manager to ensure that the correct audio driver is installed and that its settings match with those specified by the sound card manufacturer.
