Portable computer systems like the laptops, notebooks, and also the PDA's run on batteries when not connected to any power source. There are many types of power sources available for a portable device like a laptop. Some of them are:

  • Nickel-cadmium.

  • Nickel-metal-hydride (NiMH).

  • Lead-acid.

  • Lithium-ion.

  • Lithium-ion-polymer.

  • Reusable Alkaline.

  • Fuel cell.
