NSLOOKUP.EXE

Nslookup.exe is a command-line administrative tool for testing and troubleshooting DNS servers.

The following points should be noted when using Nslookup.exe:

The TCP/IP protocol must be installed on the computer running Nslookup.exe.

At least one DNS server must be specified when you run the IPCONFIG /ALL command from a command prompt.

It's a MS-DOS utility that enables a user to look up an IP address of a domain or host on a network. The nslookup.exe command is an external command that is available in the below mentioned Microsoft operating systems:

  • Windows NT

  • Windows 2000

  • Windows XP

To start Nslookup.exe in interactive mode, type "nslookup" at the command prompt:

C:\> nslookup

Default Server: nameserver1.domain.com

Address: 10.0.0.1
