WinMSD

WinMSD is also known as Windows NT Diagnostics. It is a utility used to record detailed configuration information on a system running Windows NT. This information can be decoded by Microsoft Support Personnel & can be used for troubleshooting purposes. The utility can also be used to gather current configuration information for archival purposes.

WinMSD can be run in the graphical user interface (GUI) mode or it can be run at an MS-DOS command prompt mode.

The utility can be accessed under Administrative tools. (Start > Programs > Administrative tool.)

The utility can be run in the command prompt using switches.

For Example the command

winmsd /a /f will query the computer and creates a text file in the current directory.
