An Event viewer has the following capabilities and functions:
Searching for specific types of Events: Open Event Viewer. In the console tree in the left-hand pane, select the log you want to search. Select the Find option under the View menu, in the Event types section; choose the types of events to be found.
Filtering events in an Event Log: On Event Viewer, select the log you want to filter in the Console tree. Select the Filter option under the View menu, in the Event types section; choose the types of events to be filtered.
Specifying a sort order in an Event Log: On Event Viewer, select the log you want to sort in the Console tree. In the right-hand pane, click the column heading you want to sort by. To reverse the sort order, click the column heading a second time.
Viewing More Details about an Event: On Event Viewer, select the log you want to work with, in the Console tree. On the right hand pane select the Event. Click Properties under the Action menu
Refreshing an Event Log: Select the log in the left hand console pane on Event Viewer. Click Refresh under the Action Menu.
