The Event Viewer is a centralized recording point for all kinds of system alerts, diagnostic messages, error reports, status messages and gathers information about hardware and software problems generated by a system. It provides a highly configurable record of any events of significance.
Event Viewer is listed under the Administrative Tools (Start >> Programs >> Administrative Tools).
The event viewer can be used to manage events by taking ownership of them, transferring them, and closing them, either one at a time or in a bulk. It even shows the details of the events and the properties of the program the event is associated with.
