Windows XP's Task Manager compared to earlier Windows task mangers is most useful. The Task Manager can be used to monitor key indicators of the computer's performance. The status of the programs that are running and end programs that have stopped responding can be viewed. It can also provide access to view the activity of running processes using as many as fifteen parameters, and to view graphs and data on CPU and memory usage. In addition, if the system is connected to a network, the network status and how the network is functioning can also be seen.
If more than one user is connected to a computer, then the administrator can see who all are connected, what they are working on, and can even send them a message.
The Task Manager has several tabs running across the top, but the most important ones are the Applications, Processes, and Performance tabs. Each one of these tabs will give users critical information regarding the status and health of their machines.
