Safe Mode with Command Prompt

Click on the image to zoom

In case of Safe Mode with Command Prompt boot option, the system is started using only basic files and drivers just the way it does in case of Safe mode, except that it will not load the GUI interface. In this mode the cmd.exe starts instead of Windows Explorer, which means that after the log on screen, the command prompt is displayed instead of the Windows graphical interface. This mode should not be confused with the MS-DOS prompt as it may appear same.

The system boots to the prompt with minimum drivers and registry instructions than usual and thus reduces potential system conflicts.

When in Safe mode with command prompt mode, the system loads the Command.com and DoubleSpace or DriveSpace files. It does not load Himem.sys, Ifshlp.sys, or Windows registry files.
