Event Viewer - Event Log is full (Cont...)

Click on the image to zoom

When the log is full, it stops recording new events, the error Event Viewer - Event Log is full is generated by the operating system.

To clear the Event log:

  • The user must be logged in as an Administrator.

  • Open the Event Viewer found in Administrative Tools in the Control Panel.

  • Select the log on the console tree that needs to be cleared.

  • Under the Action menu choose Clear all events.

To avoid reoccurrence of the error message the administrator can choose the option "overwrite events as needed" under Actions menu - properties. This will make sure that all new events are written to the log even when the log is full. The maximum log size can also be increased using the Maximum log size option.
