A+ Study Guide: Device Drivers

The following online study guide is designed to help you with your Comptia A+ test prep. You can discuss any questions or comments that you may have, either on these study guides or on the Comptia A+ test on our community forum.

E. Using Unsigned Drivers

The devices provided by various hardware manufacturers are supplied with device drivers to install and configure them. There are chances that some of these device drivers may have conflict with the existing resources of the operating system and this resource conflict, in turn can cause havoc in the computer.

To protect your computer from these harmful drivers, Microsoft has designed Signature Verification for the driver providers. The drivers will be tested by Microsoft and will provide a digital signature to make sure these drivers are safe to install and will not cause conflict on the computer.
