In case your computer is connected to the Internet, Windows operating system will search for the driver on the Microsoft Web site The latest windows updates, including security fixes, patches, service packs, new Help files, and device drivers are also available on the site. Incase the driver is found on the Microsoft website then Windows copies and installs the respective driver on your computer. If your computer is not connected to the Internet, Windows will display a message prompting you to connect to the Internet.
In case the driver is not found on the Microsoft website you will be prompted that the driver is not available. In that case you can go to the hardware vendor's website and search for the driver on that website. You need to know the model and make of the device to search for the device drivers.
Once you locate the drivers on the website you will be given an option to download the driver to your computer. Download the driver and extract the content by double clicking on the downloaded file. Follow the instructions to complete the extraction of the file.
Location of the extracted files can be indicated on the Update Driver wizard and then you may continue with the installation of the device. Follow the onscreen instruction, if any, to complete the installation of the device. Restart your computer if prompted to do so.
