Upgrading Windows 9x to Windows XP:

Upgrading of Windows 95/98 and ME to Windows is quite an easy and straight forward task. Windows XP supports old file systems such as FAT16 and FAT32 and also new file system like NTFS5.

Before upgrading the Windows 9x system you must meet the hardware requirements for Windows XP and you must have installed Windows 95/98 or ME in your system.

Steps to perform an Upgrade are as follows:

  1. Before running the set up close all the programs and running applications.

  2. Boot to the operating system.

  3. Place the Windows XP CDROM in the CDROM drive. You will see a Windows XP installation screen on your desktop.

  4. Select upgrade option on the installation screen.
