Upgrading Windows 9x to Windows XP:

Some of the factors you must consider before upgrading an operating system are:

  1. Check if the present operating system can be upgraded to the new operating system.

  2. Check the hardware requirements for the new operating system.

  3. Check the file system support.

  4. Check for device compatibility with the new upgrade.

  5. Check if the present applications support the upgrade.

  6. You need to have the upgradeable version of the operating system CD with you.

  7. The most important thing, if the upgrade does not work well you should be able to roll back or uninstall the upgrade and retain the old versionWe will now look into the various upgrade paths available for Windows 9x and Windows NT/2000/XP and the things you need to consider.
