Dual Boot Support

Dual Booting:

Allows two or more operating systems to exist in a single hard disk. Each operating system is installed in a different partition. When you start the computer you will have a menu of choice between which operating system to load with. Dual booting is supported by all the Windows operating systems.

You need to take certain measures before installing the dual operating systems. You must also consider compatibility issues.

Some considerations for dual boot are as follows:

  • Each operating system must be installed in a separate partition.

  • If you have Windows 9x operating system and WinNT/2000/XP then you should use FAT file system. NTFS file system supports dual boot but the disadvantage is that Windows 9x systems will not be able to read NTFS.
