CompTIA A Plus Study Guide: Installing Windows

Network Configuration

Click on the image to zoom

You need to setup this option if you want to get connected to a network. You will have to choose if you want to 'join a domain or a workgroup'. If you select workgroup then you are not connecting your computer to any network or in other words this will be a stand alone installation. If you choose to connect to a domain then you need to have a user account created for this computer in the domain or ask your administrator to do this process.

If you are already connected to the network then you will need the following information.

  • Name of your computer

  • Name of the workgroup or domain

  • TCP/IP address if your network doesn't have a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol [DHCP] server. Opens More Info in a new browser window
