Portable: Portable installation is for mobile users or laptop users. The installations install roaming profile and advanced power management schemes that are designed for laptop users.
Compact: This is the smallest of all the installations. You can choose this option when you are upgrading an operating system and if your hard disk has very little free space left. In this type of setup no optional components such as Games, Windows theme Web TV etc are not installed. You may choose to install these components manually after the setup is complete.
