CompTIA A Plus Study Guide: Installing Windows

Installing Windows 98 (Cont...)

Prerequisites:

  1. Partition the hard disk and chose a file system either FAT16 or FAT32.

  2. Create an Active Partition.

  3. Format the drive.

  4. Keep Windows 98 Startup disk handy.

  5. You will need a motherboard installation disk if your chipset is from Intel like i810, i820 etc. (You will need this disk in the last part of the installation).

  6. You may need the device drivers for the devices in the computer, so keep them handy.

  7. Disconnect external devices such as printers and scanners.

Once the above steps have been performed then we are all set to go into the first step of installation.
