The next step after formatting the hard drive is installing the operating system. The installation of OS has many phases in it. It first starts from the command line where you need to run the setup file and goes on to the GUI mode and finally setting up devices and installing the drivers.

There will be a major difference in installing Win9x operating system and Windows NT, 2000. This is because Win 9x are designed for a single user and Windows NT, 2000 are for network based. So they have many more features and capabilities.

We will now show you how to setup Windows 98 for Win 9x based operating system and for Network operating system, we will show Windows 2000 Professional. Installing Windows 95, 98 and ME is almost similar.
