CompTIA A Plus Study Guide: Installing Windows

Partitioning depends on the operating system you are installing. You will require a boot disk or start up disk to carry out this operation. You will also have to choose which file system you want to install like FAT16, FAT32 or NTFS. The procedure for partitioning the disk with FAT16 and FAT32 is as follows:

  • Place the boot disk into the floppy drive and then restart your computer

  • While the computer starts from the floppy drive it will install the drivers for the CD-ROM driver

  • After the booting is completed you will see a DOS prompt and it looks like this: a:\>
