  • Destination  Specifies the destination of the files you want to copy. Destination can include a drive letter and colon, a directory name, a filename, or a combination.
  • device  Specifies a different device for command input and output.
  • DOS  Microsoft DOS (Disk Operating System) is a command line user interface. MS-DOS 1.0 was released in 1981 for IBM computers and the latest version of MS-DOS is MS-DOS 6.22, which was released in 1994. While MS-DOS is not commonly used by itself today, it still can be accessed from every version of Microsoft Windows operating system by clicking Start / Run and typing \"command\" or by typing \"CMD\" in Windows NT, Windows 2000 or Windows XP.
  • drive:  Specifies the drive that contains the disk you want to optimize. Generally A: indicates the floppy drive and C: indicates the hard disk drive.
  • [drive:]path  Specifies the directory in which the command interpreter is to look for the COMMAND.COM file.
  • [drive:path]  Specifies location of the SETVER.EXE file.
  • HMA  High Memory Area (HMA) is the memory area consisting of the first 65,520 bytes 64 kilobytes, minus 16 bytes, of the extended memory on a computer. Technically, it is memory from addresses 100000h to 10FFEFh.
  • Path  Specifies the name and location of the new directory. The maximum length of any single path from the root directory to the new directory is 63 characters, including backslashes (\).
  • Source  Specifies the location and names of the files you want to copy. Source must include either a drive or a path.
  • String  Specifies the string you want to associate with the specified variable.
