As discussed earlier, Edit.com is a text editor that comes with MS-DOS version 5 onwards and also Microsoft Windows. Originally it was just a stub that started QBasic in editor mode, but since DOS 6 it is a standalone program.

Syntax:

EDIT [d:][path]filename [/B][/G][/H][/NOHI]

Purpose:Starts the MS-DOS editor which is a text editor used to create and edit ASCII text files.

The MS-DOS Editor is full-screen text editor that includes pull-down menus and has options for creating, editing, saving, and printing ASCII files. It includes extensive online Help.
