Computer Manager

Used to view and manage all hardware and software device drivers with the help of Computer Management (compmgmt.msc) console. You can also administer hardware devices and their drivers using the Device Manager console.

This dialog box is further split up into the following three areas:

  • System Tools includes:</em>
    • Event Viewer
    • System Information
    • Performance Logs and Alerts
    • Shared Folders
    • Device Manager
    • Local Users and Groups
  • Storage includes:
    • Disk Management
    • Disk Defragmenter
    • Logical Drives
    • Removable Storage
  • Services and Applications includes:
    • WMI Control
    • Services
    • Indexing Service

Windows 2000 does not include a Devices tool in Control Panel to start and stop device, like the one available in Microsoft Windows NT 4.0.
