A+ Study Guide: System Files & Disk Partitions

Create Folders

It is very easy to create a folder in Windows operating system or GUI based operating systems. In case of CUI you need to use commands called 'md'. You can name the folder with any name. MD stands for Make Directory.

Incase of GUI based Operating Systems there is no need to use any commands. You can create a folder by clicking or choosing from the menu. Given below is an example of creating a folder in the root directory of the hard disk (i.e., C:\).

Double -click with the mouse on My Computer icon or you can even right click on the icon and then left click on open.

  1. Once you open My Computer you can see the primary and logical drives and also removable media drives.

  2. Open the C drive by double-clicking it.
