WIN.COM contains user and program settings. In Windows 9x systems, this file is required for backward compatibility with 16 bit applications.
At times, When Windows 95/98 is started, an error message may occur and return the system to MS-DOS prompt:
The following file is missing or corrupted: Win.com.
The following file is missing or corrupted: Win.com Program too big to load in the memory.
Cannot find Win.com, unable to continue loading, Windows Program too large.
It means the Win.com file is missing or damaged.
