WIN.COM contains user and program settings. In Windows 9x systems, this file is required for backward compatibility with 16 bit applications.

At times, When Windows 95/98 is started, an error message may occur and return the system to MS-DOS prompt:

  1. The following file is missing or corrupted: Win.com.

  2. The following file is missing or corrupted: Win.com Program too big to load in the memory.

  3. Cannot find Win.com, unable to continue loading, Windows Program too large.

    It means the Win.com file is missing or damaged. Opens More Info in a new browser window
