HIMEM.SYS is a memory management utility that manages the memory in such a way that two applications or device drivers do not use the same memory locations at the same time.
HIMEM is installed by adding a <DEVICE> command for HIMEM.SYS to CONFIG.SYS file. The HIMEM.SYS command line should precede any command to start applications or device drivers that use extended memory.
