Windows XP Professional has the following additional features than Windows XP Home Edition:

  • Win XP pro has remote desktop host and client where as Win XP has home remote desktop client only.

  • Centralized administration features, including Roaming User Profiles, Group Policies, Automatic Software Installation and Maintenance, and Remote Installation Service (RIS).

  • Encrypting File System (EFS) which encrypts the files in the hard drive of the computer so that those files cannot be read by another user, even if they have the physical access to the computer.

  • Offline Files and Folders allow a PC to automatically save a copy of files from other computer in the network and work with these files while disconnected from the network.

  • Symmetric multiprocessing; the ability to divide tasks between multiple CPUs. Windows XP Professional can support up to two CPUs.

  • Windows XP will not allow the user to set a resolution lower than 800*600.
