Windows NT 4.0 Workstation

Click on the image to zoom

Windows NT "New Technology" 4.0 released in the year of 1996 is a 32-bit Windows operating system, which is available in workstation and server versions with a graphical environment similar to Windows 95.

It is more stable than Windows 95, and also less flexible from a desktop perspective. While many programs written for the Win32 API will run on both Windows 95 and Windows NT, the majority of 3D games will not.

The different packages of Windows NT 4.0 are:

  • Windows NT 4.0 Terminal Server: It is an NT operating system which allows remote log on for the user.

  • Windows NT 4.0 Enterprise Server: It was designed for high-demand, high-traffic networks.

  • Windows NT 4.0 Server: It is designed for small-scale Business Server systems.

  • Windows NT Workstation: It is designed for use as the general business desktop operating system.
