
Windows 98 is also a hybrid 16-bit/32-bit graphical user interface (GUI) operating system, and was first released in the year 1998. The shortcomings that existed in Windows 95 were rectified in Windows 98 that included the Internet Explorer 4 browser. Apart from this there are not many changes between the two.
Windows 98 was a bit slower when compared to Windows 95 and it also had many stability and compatibility issues. To overcome these, another edition known as Windows 98 Second Edition (Windows 98 SE) was released in the year 1999. This included fixes for many small issues, like the replacement of Internet Explorer 4 with the significantly faster and lighter Internet Explorer 5, and Internet Connection Sharing, which allowed two computers on a LAN to share a single Internet connection through NAT. Netmeeting 3, and support for DVD were also added.
