Network Topologies

Topology refers to the way in which the computers are connected in a network. Each topology is suited for specific tasks and has its own advantages and disadvantages.

The choice of topology is dependent upon the number and type of equipment being used and the cost.

There are 5 major network topologies:

  1. Bus

  2. Ring

  3. Mesh

  4. Star

  5. Hybrid
