Printers have invaded our working as well as our home environments in an unprecedented manner. They have rendered our good old pen and even the typewriter useless. What with the latest inventions in the printing technology, it won't be long before people start carrying mobile printers wherever they go and print as and when they like, just like a pen.
Here is a small guide to aid you when you plan to buy a printer.
Image Quality: Image quality or print resolution is usually measured in dots per inch (dpi). The more dots per inch a printer can print, the greater the quality of the image.
Speed: Printer speed is measured in pages per minute (ppm). Printers have different ppm ratings for text and pictures. Keep in mind that more ppm means higher cost.
Initial Cost: This is subjective but the cost of new printers has fallen drastically in the recent years.
Cost of Operation: The cost of the ink or toner coupled with the maintenance cost and power consumption along with the paper makes up the cost of operation.
