Mechanizing Preventive Maintenance
Defragmenting Hard Disk Volumes

Fragmentation refers to the spreading of large files among various clusters on the hard disk. This happens when you create, modify, and delete files. Fragmentation does not lead to data loss. Instead, it results in delay in read and write operations

Preventive maintenance activities of hard disk helps PC run at its peak performance. To perform preventive maintenance, use tools such as Disk Defragmenter or the Norton Utilities SpeeDisk program. The Defrag program defragments the hard disk volumes and put the data in a contiguous location.
