Fragmentation does not lead to data loss.
Instead, it results in delay in read and write
operations

To perform preventive maintenance, use tools such as Disk Defragmenter or the
Norton Utilities SpeeDisk program. The Defrag
program defragments the hard disk volumes
and put the data in a contiguous location.
